Winner of the prestigious national housing award in 2008 of; HIA - ANZ National Home of the Year, this home is a carefully considered design by Eames Architects Pty Ltd with exceptional workmanship.
The brief to the Architect was to produce a home for the "high end" rental market that considered the exposed position on a cliff top overlooking Cowaramup Bay and that the site abuts a nature reserve. A low linear design was chosen to reduce the impact of the strong prevailing winds rushing up the nearby cliff face and to ensure that the mass did not have dominant visual impact upon the adjacent reserve.
Commanding views of the panorama of the Indian ocean were achieved, despite the strength of the "roaring forties", by using armour plated glass in the large windows. Rendered masonry walls and a combination of reinforced concrete and sheet metal roof complete the external fabric of the home.
