HIA - ANZ 2008 National Home of the Year
Sheltered external areas are located at either end of the family room thereby ensuring whichever way the prevailing winds blow there is an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and all that is on offer. Orientation and selected openings allow cooling summer breezes to enter the home and negate the requirement for airconditioning.
The entry is a sheltered continuation of the timber lined carport. At the front door the view into the home is spectacular. Central to the passage is a stone fireplace tapering vertically. Natural materials abound, with many sourced locally. The floors are a combination of ceramics, inset pebbles and marble tiles laid in a variety of patterns to create textural and patterned highlights.
